Alendronic acid tablets ( fosamax) are a type of medication used to treat and prevent osteoporosis, which is a condition that weakens the bones.

This medication helps by slowing down bone loss and increasing bone density, so it’s important to take them as prescribed by your doctor in order to get the most benefit.

It’s also important to make sure you’re getting enough calcium and Vitamin D in your diet as well as exercising regularly while taking this medication for best results!

When taking Fosamax (alendronate), it is important to be aware of certain foods and beverages that may interfere with its absorption or effectiveness. Here are some general guidelines on Foods to Avoid while Taking Fosamax

  1. Calcium-rich foods: High-calcium foods, such as dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt), fortified juices, and calcium supplements, can interfere with the absorption of Fosamax. It is recommended to separate the intake of these foods from taking Fosamax by at least 30 minutes.
  2. Food and beverages other than water: It is generally advised to avoid consuming any food or beverages (except plain water) for at least 30 minutes after taking Fosamax. This includes coffee, tea, juice, milk, soda, and other liquids.
  3. High-fiber foods: Foods high in fiber, such as whole grains, bran, and certain fruits and vegetables, may impair the absorption of Fosamax. It is advisable to take Fosamax at least 30 minutes before consuming high-fiber meals.
  4. Antacids and supplements: Certain antacids, such as those containing calcium, magnesium, or aluminum, as well as dietary supplements containing these minerals, can interfere with the absorption of Fosamax. It is recommended to separate the intake of these substances from taking Fosamax by at least 30 minutes.
